Welcome to the website for the recently formed '' Lions Club of Danbury'' situated between Chelmsford and Maldon in the county of Essex, England

The venue for our club meetings is 'The Bakers Arms ' Pub on the Main Road in the centre of Danbury, and our club meeting nights are on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays each month, 8 p.m start time. We have elected the main Club officers and a really interesting programme of club events is in place,and we have a lively crowd on board !!
We are a nice mix of people of all ages and backgrounds.
We aim to do some good...and have a lot of fun doing it !! That will be paramount in the club
We became a fully recognised Lions Club, on Thurs Nov 8th 2007,after which, Founders and new Members became full Charter members, at our Charter Presentation Celebration which was held at the Forrester Park Golf & Country Club, Great Totham, Nr.Maldon, Essex on Fri 18th April 2008.Guests included Lions from 12 Lions Clubs from around the District...we thank them for their attendance, gifts, support and for helping to make it such a happy and special evening.

Please read about the fun we have together as Lions locally,and in the District with other clubs, and the great satisfaction to be had from doing some good for others locally, nationally and internationally.
N.B.Every new member will be offered the opportunity to visit,along with other Danbury Lions, other Lions Clubs in the District prior to induction.
We are delighted to announce that links have been forged with the other Danbury Lions Club...this one is in Danbury, Connecticut, U.S.A and we hope to twin with them..and some of their members have joined our club as Associate Charter Members !! We are joining in with their activities from here in the U.K.

LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL - MISSION STATEMENT:

Lions Clubs International is an organisation that began in the U.S.A. in 1917 when Chicago Insurance man Melvin Jones had the idea of joining a group of separate business groups into one, with the intention of serving their own communities and the world at large.
The idea of Lionism spread rapidly throughout the world, and today, Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organisation, with over 1.4 million members committed to working together in community service. As an organisation, every penny collected for charitable purposes goes directly to helping others in need.
All administration costs in serving the community are met directly by the members themselves.
The Lions motto is "WE SERVE".
Lions are ordinary people doing amazing things.
Lions are people who give something back to their communities.
Lions are people who identify the needs of others and set about meeting
those needs.
Lions are people who enjoy themselves and include fun in their caring attitudes
Lions encourage a spirit of friendship and fellowship
